Micromax starts operations in Russia, aims to release 14 smartphones in 2014

Micromax today announced it has launched its operations in Russia with a tie-up with VVP Group, a distributor known for introducing new brands. The partnership will bring the brand’s Canvas and Bolt range of smartphones in over 9,000 retail outlets across Russia.
 In an official press release the company said, that it “aims to have an aggressive plan to make its mark in the Russian mobile handset market and plans to offer innovative products customised to the needs of consumers in Russia.”
Micromax aims to launch 14 smartphones in the Russian market in the initial phase, and aims to be among the Top 4 brands in Russia by the end of 2014. It also plans to have 60 operational service centers by end of the month in important cities in Russia. Additionally, Micromax has also tied up with other service providers in Russia including Odnoklassniki and IVI.ru (a popular Russian social network) for providing value added content on its smartphones.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vasily Sibirtsev, Chairman VVP Group said, “We are very excited to work with Micromax, one of the world’s leading mobile phone brands. We will be working aggressively to strengthen our presence in the retail space across 9000+ sales points in the country backed by an efficient service infrastructure.
In year 2013 Micromax became the second biggest smartphone brand after Samsung and the third largest overall mobile phone brand in India. In order to gain a more global image, Micromax roped in Hollywood star Hugh Jackman as its new brand ambassador. The company claims it is the eleventh biggest mobile phone brand in the world and aims to breach into the top ten this year with its expansion plans in more markets.

Micromax Canvas Blaze launched with GSM, CDMA support at Rs. 10,999

Micromax, in partnership with telecom service provider MTS, has launched the Canvas Blaze in India at Rs. 10,990.
The Micromax  supports dual-SIM functionality with GSM+CDMA support. Notably, the Canvas Blaze supports 3G-EVDO networks. The Canvas Blaze sports a 5-inch display (unspecified resolution). It is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1GHz paired with 768MB of RAM.The smartphone supports expandable storage up to 32GB via microSD card. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
Canvas Blaze sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera and also includes a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.  Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE and 3G. It packs a 1850mAh battery.
As a part of the deal with MTS, Canvas Blaze comes with bundled offers which include 2GB of free data, 1000 free minutes for MTS to MTS local calling, and 120 free minutes for other local and STD calls, all of which are applicable per month for six months.
Commenting on the launch, Vikas Jain, co-founder, Micromax, said, “Our new offering on 3G EVDO + GSM dual-SIM smartphone based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will help GSM consumers take advantage of the superior 3G EVDO network of MTS while retaining their GSM number.”
