January 2018 platform distribution numbers show Oreo still at less than 1%

The time has come again for Google to provide an overview of what versions of Android are out there in the wild. Last month saw some big (proportional) gains for Oreo as most other version of Android continued to slide. This time, we have the first appearance of Android 8.1, but Oreo's adoption is still in lock-step with Nougat last year.

Here's a breakdown of this month's changes.

Android version stats, January 2018

Android version Previous data (%) Current data (%) Change (pp)
2.3 0.4 0.4 0
4.0 0.5 0.5 0
4.1 2.0 1.9 -0.1
4.2 3.0 2.9 -0.1
4.3 0.9 0.8 -0.1
4.4 13.4 12.8 -0.6
5.0 6.1 5.7 -0.4
5.1 20.2 19.4 -0.8
6.0 29.7 28.6 -1.1
7.0 19.3 21.1 +1.8
7.1 4.0 5.2 +1.2
8.0 0.5 0.5 0
8.1 0 0.2 +0.2

As you can see, Nougat is still on the rise, and most earlier versions ticked downward just a bit.
