Galaxy S8 Plus 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage version gets price cut in India

Update: The Galaxy S8 Plus model with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage space has received a price cut in India. The device went on sale about a month ago in the region (June 9) for Rs. 74,900, the equivalent of around $1,160. Earlier today, retailer Mahesh Telecom tweeted about its reduction on its official Twitter channel.

The premium handset can now be purchased for Rs. 70,900 from Samsung’s official Indian web portal and brick and mortar stores, though Flipkart still has the phone on sale at the original price. This means the total is now around $1,100, so it’s still one of the most expensive flagship phones in the world.

It’s not clear how long this offer will last, or why Samsung has reduced it so soon after launch (it’s possible that it hasn’t been selling as well as expected), but if you’re interested, check it out over at Samsung.in.

The standard version of the Galaxy S8 Plus, which launched in India back in April, has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. As you may know, there’s also an additional version of the flagship available that offers 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of space. This is currently on sale in China and South Korea, but it will soon be available in India too.

You’ll be able to pre-order the high-end smartphone in the country from June 2 via the Samsung Shop and Flipkart, with sales officially kicking off on June 9. It will retail for Rs. 74,900 and come in the Midnight Black color option. For comparison, the standard variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus retails for Rs. 64,900.

To boost sales, Samsung is also giving out a free wireless charger that’s worth Rs. 4,499 to customers who purchase the smartphone.
